Printed Circuit Board Trophy | PCB Manufacture

We were very pleased to be involved recently in the manufacture of a new trophy for the Bright Sparks Design Engineers of Tomorrow awards run by Electronics Weekly in association with RS Components.

Saar Drimer from Boldport was tasked with designing and developing the trophy and he decided to make the trophy from printed circuit board material since this is what he specialises in, and also to create something that really stood out from a typical trophy design.

Saar explains “For PCB fabrication, I chose Garner Osborne. They are a UK manufacturer and I’ve been impressed with their top-quality PCBs in the past. I knew that they do ‘edge plating’, which is something that I wanted to use in my previous designs but never had a chance to. (‘Edge plating’ can mean several things; here it’s carefully routing through plated holes to leave finished copper on the edges of the PCB.) This was a good opportunity to both work with them and gain experience with this manufacturing technique. It was very helpful to have a direct line with their technical staff to make sure that I designed the board correctly for their manufacturing process.”

We’re sure you’ll agree that the finished trophy design is stunning and we offer our congratulations on a great job well done! It was a pleasure to be involved in the manufacture of this PCB style trophy.
